SUMMER EXCURSION TO THE UNITED KINGDOM

Categories:Uncategorized

From 21st to 30th August, 2015 some students of Grundtvig International Secondary School, accompanied by Mrs Chineze Odiari (VP Academics Junior), were in the United Kingdom for a ten-day educational summer tour. They first camped at the PGL Camp in Liddington, Swindon, where they engages in activities like rock climbing, map reading and location finding, vertical challenge, sensory trail, etc. They also visited places of interest in London, such as the Parliament Square, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Pier, and the London Eye. Some of our students captured their their impressions of the tour below:

THE MOST EXCITING ADVENTURE OF MY LIFE
On the 21st of August, 2015, I embarked on the most exciting adventure of my life. We left Nigeria around 6am and arrived London Gatwick Airport at about 5pm. In Swindon, we had lots of fun activities, especially rock climbing which I did with so much ease and excitement. From there, we went to London twice for shopping and sightseeing, which I also enjoyed. We entered the famous Buckingham Palace, where the Queen of England lives. We saw the soldiers and their gigantic horses exchanging shifts with a parade. The trip was fun-filled. I doubt I will ever forget such a wonderful and exciting experience in my life and I hope I will get to go there again.

GETTING USED TO ENGLISH DISHES
The meals were quite interesting ‘English dishes’ – although we weren’t familiar with them at first but we got used to them. I looked forward to meal times. We were also involved in a lot of fun activities like fencing, trapeze, quad biking, climbing, sensory trail, Jacobs ladder, zip wire to mention a few. We went to many places of interest like Buckingham Palace, where the queen of England resides; Numbers 10 &11 Downing Street where the prime minister and the treasury operate from; Trafalgar square; the parliament building and the London Eye. I’d say it was a great opportunity for me. I thank my parents and the School for the great opportunity.
