Following her excellent 99th percentile score in the int’l Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Kenechukwu Onubogu (Class of 2019) has taken up admission to study Bioengineering at Rice University in Texas, USA with full scholarship awards totalling $73,427/N35.2m (approx.) per year. Included in the awards she received is the prestigious TRUSTEE DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARSHIP which is reserved only for students “whose accomplishments distinguish them as leaders and scholars”. Rice University was ranked 1st in the world in materials science research by Times Higher Education in 2010, and is currently ranked 6th in the US for “best undergraduate teaching” and 8th for Bioengineering by U.S. News & World Report, which also rated admission into Rice as “most selective”. We congratulate Kene on this wonderful achievement—a fitting progression following all the prizes she won while in our school. Greater things still lie ahead. We equally congratulate her proud and ever-supportive parents.
