The atmosphere felt different over the weekend as we finally bade farewell to our Class of 2020. The occasion was graced by dignitaries including His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, the immediate past governor of Anambra State, who shared nuggets of wisdom with the graduands and lauded the school for the many feats it has achieved over the years. In his words: “I am very much impressed with what you are doing here… Keep it up!” Also at the event was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Nnenna Oti who held the audience spellbound with her speech and left the graduands quite motivated to face the next stage of life.
In his speech, the Valedictorian of the class of 2020, Master Emmanuel Okike, took the audience down the memory lane from when they were admitted into GISS, to their very last day in the school. He charged his mates to always show the world that they were trained by the best hands.
With the unusual events that have surrounded the year, it is as though our graduands saw tomorrow when they decided to pick the name – The Pertinacious Class of 2020. Indeed, they have shown pertinacity these past months and have proven themselves worthy of that tag! We say huge congratulations to the latest alumni of GISS and wish them the very best in their future endeavours.
